Painting

Real Deal Builders handles interior painting, exterior painting, ceiling painting, trim and baseboard painting, and cabinet painting, and the reason the result holds up is that most of the work happens before the first coat. Preparation is the whole job

A paint job is bought on the finish and won on the prep. We start by washing the surface so paint bonds to a clean wall rather than dust and grime. Then we scrape and sand loose or failing paint, patch holes and cracks, caulk the gaps, and prime the repaired and bare areas so the topcoat goes on even. On exteriors we look for the small failures, a lifted board, an open seam, bare wood at the trim, and fix them first, because those are where the next round of peeling begins.

None of this shows in the finished wall, which is exactly why it gets skipped by crews racing to the lowest bid. It is also the difference between a coat that looks good for a season and one that looks good for years.

How long should an exterior paint job last?

With correct prep and premium paint, a quality exterior holds up for many years. In strong sun and wind, south and west facing walls take the worst beating and will show wear first. The prep is what buys that time.

Do you repair damage before painting?

Yes. We patch drywall, repair stucco, replace failed caulk, and address bare or rotten wood before any paint goes on, because paint does not fix a surface, it only covers it.

Do you paint kitchen cabinets?

Yes. Cabinet painting is one of the highest impact updates in a kitchen, and it is a real alternative to full cabinet replacement at a fraction of the cost. Done right it looks smooth and lasts.

What is the difference between cabinet painting and cabinet refinishing?

In practice they are used interchangeably. Cabinet refinishing usually means stripping and staining a wood cabinet back to a stained finish. Cabinet painting means covering the cabinets in a new painted color. We do both.

Do you do ceiling painting and popcorn ceilings?

Yes. Ceiling painting is part of most interior scopes. If your ceiling has old popcorn texture and you want it removed, that is a drywall scope of removal, reskim, and repaint, which we also handle.

Can you match my existing color?

Yes. We can match an existing color from a paint chip, a scan, or a sample piece you provide. We can also help you choose a new one and put up a test area on your own wall in your own light before we commit.

How many coats do you apply?

Most work gets primer where it is needed plus two finish coats, which is what gives even color and real durability. Some strong colors and some surfaces need more, and we will tell you up front rather than run short at the end.

How much does interior or exterior painting cost?

Cost is driven by square footage, how much prep and repair the surface needs, the paint you pick, and whether we are painting ceilings and trim too. We price against a specific written scope.

Do I need to move my furniture out?

No. We move furniture into the center of rooms and cover it, then move it back when we are done. Small and fragile items we ask you to move yourself.

How long will an interior repaint take?

A typical whole interior repaint runs about a week for most single family homes, depending on the size, the amount of trim, and how much repair is needed first. Single rooms are usually done in a day or two.

Do you offer low VOC or eco friendly paints?

Yes. Low VOC and zero VOC paints have gotten very good, and we use them regularly, especially for interiors and for households with kids, pets, or sensitivities.
