Repairs that disappear into the wall
A drywall repair is judged by whether you can find it afterward. We cut back to solid material, back the patch so it does not flex, then tape, mud, and sand in layers so the surface comes back flat. The step most people skip is matching the surrounding texture, from a smooth wall to a knockdown or orange peel finish, which is exactly what makes a bad patch stand out under the paint.
Where water was the cause, we make sure the source is addressed and the area is dry before we close it up, because patching over an active leak just hides the problem until it comes back worse.
